When Addie's beloved stepfather takes her two sisters and reluctantly leaves Addie with "Mommers," her neglectful, mentally ill mother, in a mobile home on a bleak corner in Schenectedy, NY, a lot of kids would fold up into a corner and disintegrate. But Addie is one of those rare resilient children who knows how to give and can find a family wherever she goes, even in a gas station on the corner. I wanted to adopt her myself! I was rooting so hard for her to get away, I was actually happy when the mobile home caught fire while Mommers was off with her latest boyfriend. Not to be missed.
