Holy freaking crap. I went into this hoping I'd find a new author to get into, and this book did not disappoint in the least. Having grown up outside Roanoke, the fact that this was set in a fictional town in that area helped to draw me in (the nods to various locations in Roanoke were super fun), and though it's a bit of a slow start, once I got past the first 1/4, I just devoured it. The last several chapters are absolutely relentless, and once I reached the end, I felt like I needed to just sit and take a few calming breaths. I will definitely be in line for any and all future books by Allison Gunn, and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.
