The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

5.0

I first read this book when I was 19, and knowing it was meant to be this great feminist novel, I was expecting a lot more than I found. Slightly disappointed, I gave it three stars. Reading it three years on, I can now see that it is entirely worthy of the praise heaped upon it, for the subtle ways it portrays the hardships of being a woman in the modern world. Love it. Five stars.
