The Wandering Earth by Cixin Liu
5.0

The Wandering Earth by Cixin Liu--At times haunting and at others wry, Liu continues to capture the imagination. This book, featuring multiple short stories and one titular novella, focuses on the wonder of Earth, while properly setting the planet's place in the vastness of the universe. He considers the great foreignness of the unfamiliar by placing it in the context of what we know well, and does so skillfully, masterfully even, over and over again. It's nearly unimaginable that an author with such a (relatively) limited scope could continue to develop a sentence or two of ideas into evocative story after evocative story, but Liu succeeds. Two thumbs up.
