Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader by James Luceno
Did not finish book. Stopped at 15%.
DNF at 15%
Unfortunately this book did not age well.
Reading this in 2023, when we’ve had Clone Wars and Obi-Wan Kenobi and Bad Batch to fill in the details about the end of the war makes this book completely irrelevant. In fact, Clone Wars s6 AND Kenobi contradicts some of the basis of this very book.
Add that to what other reviewers said about the writing style (so many info-dumps), and I’d rather spend my times on newer, better written books. It’s a shame really, because early Vader POV is still something we have very little of. Even the Vader comics quickly moved from him to the Inquisitors.
I guess that’s my lesson to stay away from the old books and stick to the lore reboot stuff…
