A Season for Love by Lisa Kleypas

4.0

This review is for the entire series.

If you get this 2-in-1 edition please note that the first story is actually the fourth book from her previous series. So you may want to skip it like I did. I’m reading the previous series now and will read it last. The two series are based in the same universe so you may want to read the previous one (The Wallflowers) before, as some of the characters make cameos, but it isn’t necessary.

This series follows a family of four siblings (a older brother and three sisters) whose parents have died a couple years before. Unexpectedly through a quick series of death the brother inherits a title (that is possibly cursed) and the whole family suddenly go from being middle class to members of the landed gentry. The brother however has become an alcoholic and a rake. A year before his fiancée died in his arms from scarlet fever which he caught and almost died from. When he lay in bed dying he was happy to know he would join her, however, in the end he survived and ever since he has lost himself to the drink. The eldest sister, who has taken it upon herself to be the parent figure, decides to move the family to the estate they’ve inherited to remove their brother from the temptations of London in hopes of saving him from drinking himself to death. While there she runs into a handsome Roma man she had a chance encounters with back in London. And sparks fly
