Accell Vol. 1: Home Schooling by Joe Casey
2.0
Ehhhh wanted to like this more.
It isn't that Accell is awful or anything. We have a guy who discovers he has super speed powers and decides to do good. However, our main hero isn't all that good. Questioning his girlfriend love and not really caring about his family, he drifts into a more assholish mood. However, he thinks he's nearly invincible until he goes against a guy who whoops his butt. He takes that as a sign and heads to the desert to train.
Good: The art is sometimes vibrant and fun. I love the scenes of Accell on fire right after he dashed far and such. I also think he can be funny and occasionally got a laugh or two here.
Bad: The main plot point can't be more generic. The main villains couldn't be more boring. The whole mobster dad mad at his daughter has been done in so many things it gets annoying. I also thought the art sometimes lacked and can be confusing with the training stuff. What the hell was that ending too? Feels like it started off with a plot but lost it.
Overall, I like the idea and set up but it's finished product leave a lot to be desired. I'm really hoping it improves though. A 2 out of 5.
