Compassion: A Reflection on the Christian Life
by Donald P. McNeill, Douglas A. Morrison, Henri J.M. Nouwen
This was a tremendously humbling read. Actually, more like a kick to the gut as it held up a mirror by which I was made quite uncomfortable.
Henri Nouwen is a favorite author, anyway, but I had been unaware of this title. It was gifted to me, and truly what a gift. Despite the uneasy sense of guilt and shame, it really is a positive guide to, at the very least, raising one's ability to understand compassion more deeply as well as more readily recognize daily moments and opportunities to reveal/practice compassion.
Powerful stuff that begs multiple readings and sharing.
