Priestdaddy by Patricia Lockwood

This book will NOT be everyone’s cup of tea: it’s poetic, vast, and reminiscent of a collection of diary entries turned essays. It’s basis is extremely reflective, with breaks of dark humor and puns.

Imagine, you’re a married adult who finds yourself moving back home to your family (with your husband in tow), except your father is a catholic priest will his own complicated past (and a wife and children of his own). This book explores the inherit humor (and devastation) of the family unit, as well as sexism, religious trauma, and identity development as a young person.

I found myself relating to SO many quotes from this book, as well as some of the identity development pieces (perhaps it’s the catholic high school part of me feeling spoken to). I highly recommend this read!!!
