The Lonely Hearts Book Club by Lucy Gilmore

challenging emotional funny inspiring lighthearted reflective slow-paced

this wasn’t a bad book by any means — it was actually fine. just not one that fully pulled me in. i didn’t really get hooked until chapter 32… and there are only 35 chapters. 😅

the pacing felt slow for most of the story, and while i appreciated the themes (grief, connection, found family), it didn’t totally land emotionally for me until the very end. that said — the last few chapters were great. the ending was actually super satisfying and wrapped everything up in a warm, full-circle kind of way.

not a favorite, but definitely not the worst either. i can totally see this being a comfort read for a lot of people, especially if you love characters learning how to grow and heal. i’d still recommend it.
