Not horrible or anything, but the storyline just doesn’t interest me much, and the author was never suicidal herself yet she’s writing from the POVs of two suicidal teens, and she said this was the first book she wrote that was “personal”…girl, what? You don’t always write stuff that’s personal? And then the one time to say you do, it’s not even personal enough to not feel icky? She also said one of the inspirations behind this book was wanting to write something “edgy.” Oh, boy.
But anyway, none of that is even a main reason I DNF’d this at 50 pages in. It’s because I can’t stand Finch as a narrator. He’s so bigoted and annoying. That plus the storyline boring me, I just don’t see the point in reading almost 350 pages more of this when I have so much else I want to read.
