Disability Visibility: First-Person Stories from the Twenty-First Century by Alice Wong

5.0

I absolutely loved this collection. I love how it opens up to the personal, every day lives of people with disabilities through short reflections and glimpses into their experiences, not overtly sensationalizing or radicalizing anything but radical in its affirmative display of the need for disability rights and the abolition of our ableist systems and mindsets. It's direct, it's engaging, it's thought-provoking, it's empathy building and it is very needed. So much respect for all of the contributors and gratefulness for their insight and their generosity in sharing their thoughts and perspectives.
