Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again: Women and Desire in the Age of Consent
by Katherine Angel
A very brief but interesting take on consent, arousal, and sexual politics. Thought-provoking. Nuanced approach. The book provides some history on how we've reached the point of emphasizing consent above all else when teaching about sex, discusses limitations of consent, and recommends a direction to move toward. Not because consent is unnecessary but because it isn't enough on its own and we can continue to evolve the conversation. I found it refreshing that the author recognized the normalcy of a person feeling uncertain about whether or not they want to have sex in a given situation. I do wish the author had explored some ideas a more, such as how consent, uncertainty, and vulnerability could play out together in a sexual interaction or how teaching about sex would change if we placed as much importance on pleasure as we do on consent. The book raises more questions for discussion than it answers. This book is exclusively focused on cishet sex and relationships. It made me want to read more on pleasure as well as confidence culture.
