I read this as the r/romancelandia challenge "give an author a second chance" prompt. Whilst I preferred this to the Watson Brothers books which I previously read, I found that the author is simply not my style. I liked the grit, resilience and determination of the protagonist.
However, I found it a bit odd at some points reading a steamy romance author write about a steamy romance author, and personally I found it took me out of the story at points. Especially as I kind of felt it was a bit Mary Sue.
I also found Dare, the love interest, to be a bit too over-protective alpha male for my taste. Overall, it was not badly written just something which I did not particularly enjoy, which is not surprising given my dislike of previous books by the author.
