A very solid continuation of the series. On this re read, it hit a little less than unsouled, maybe cause I was just so excited to jump back in. But overall a very solid book, but not a particularly interesting one until they enter the pyramid. That said, once they enter the pyramid, it's hardcore. The weeks of fighting leaving his legs broken and then taking 5 scorpions for his iron advancement, really shows off Lindons character and the amount he's willing to go through pain and struggle for what he wants. A solid book, but definitely not my favourite. The five factions alliance is just so irrelevant for future story and all the characters, even jai long are just bullies with strong powers, not interesting, just annoying.

Characters: 7/10
  - Eithan Lindon and Yerin so so good. Fisher gesha still isn't my fav, but she gets better as the story goes on. As I said earlier, the villians are boring, don't care for their story beats much

Atmosphere: 6/10
  - five factions was boring, but the pyramid drawing in dreadbeasts was pretty cool

Writing: 8/10
  - still solid, just not quite as addictive for me this book

Plot: 7/10
  -  start of Lindon with a proper path and proper master, real solid ground work, can't wait for more

Logic: 9/10
  - no real suspension of disbelief needed. Only logic trip ups I'm doing is with Eithan and reffering to his ancestors

Enjoyment: 8/10
  - ready for black flame
