Dragon Tears by Dean Koontz

2.0

I hadn't read Dean Koontz in about 40 years, so thought I would give him a try again. This just isn't a very good book. It's pretty cheesy, with extended viewpoint of a dog, and the whole thing is pervaded by a constant right-wingish whining about how society was falling apart in the 1990s. No responsibility, no hard work, old man shaking fist at clouds sort of stuff.

Further, the origin story of the villain simply makes no sense at all.

Spoiler

His mother took lots of psychedelics so he somehow became a superbeing? Huh?

And the end of schmaltzy, with the dog happy that everyone is all together and happy.
