How Did We Get Into This Mess?: Politics, Equality, Nature by George Monbiot

4.0

Unlike a lot of my other reading, I don't read George Monbiot's writing for escapism or comfort - I read it to wake myself up from my stupor, see things for what they are, no matter how depressing, and remind myself to engage with reality. Even when it's hard, even when everyone around me are sticking their heads in the sand or obsessing over what seems trivial or meaningless, even when I don't know what I can do. There are days when I do want to hide from reality, but I don't want that to be how I live my life.

I'm keen to read his next book for figuring out what comes next for those who want to deal with the mess.
