As I read this book, I couldn’t help but read it with a soft, introspective voice in my head. This is a quiet book, but a gorgeous one.
We Are Okay is not very plot driven. While there is a bit of a mystery about what is going to be revealed at the end, it’s more of a narrative of relationships unfolding and changing and going through trauma and healing.
I was drawn into this book at the very beginning by the realistic and honest descriptions of the depression Marin is dealing with. It doesn’t have to tell you that she is depressed, but anyone who has felt those feelings know exactly what she’s dealing with.
I don’t have a negative thing to say about this book, and I will definitely come back to it.
