The No-Girlfriend Rule by Christen Randall

3.75

This is a cute YA romance set around a D&D table. When Hollis isn’t allowed to join her boyfriend’s D&D group (or “Secrets & Sorcery” in the story because trademarks) on account of a “no girlfriends rule”, she goes searching for her own group. After a bad experience in a public group, Hollis stumbles across an all-girls, queer-friendly group. There she finds the supportive, loving friend group she always needed along with a bit more in the form of an in-game character crush spilling over into reality.

It’s a sweet story focusing on experiences with anxiety, queer awakening, fatphobia, and found family. Also dumping your dead-ass boyfriend and his sexist friend group in favour of a cute nerdy girl. Very adorable, especially if you’re a D&D nerd.
