Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

"Human beings have a remarkable ability to accept the abnormal and make it normal"

You can see it as simple adventure story of a hero on his way to save the world, but what makes this cliche work here is how the hero is an ordinary guy whose magic of choice is pure science. His only passion in life is to be the coolest science teacher

“Once again I’m struck by melancholy. I want to spend the rest of my life studying Eridian biology! But I have to save humanity first. Stupid humanity. Getting in the way of my hobbies.”

My favourite part is Dr. Grace's character growth which was enhanced by rocky and his' wholesome friendship. This world feels very tangible thanks to author for making it intricate enough to keep readers engaged and simplistic enough that amateur sci-fi reader like me could follow along the scientific theories with ease.

”Good. Proud. I am scary space monster. You are leaky space blob.” He points to the breeder tanks. “Check tanks!”

Book gave me hope that maybe, by some miracle the world will forget all the borders for a minute and try to collaborate to save our planet. We can atleast dream.
