The Last Time We Were Us
by Leah Konen
I love a flawed MC and Liz completely fits the bill. When we first meet her she is trying to buy beer with a fake so he can hang out with the town golden boy, Innis. This book felt so real to me. I could relate to Liz as she goes along with things in order to get a boyfriend and to be popular. Liz's behavior will no doubt turn off some people; she's lies to everyone and gives zero thought to the repercussions of her actions. The friendship between Liz and Mackenzie is difficult; they judge each other and lash out at each other. Friendships between teenage girls are often times a minefield and enjoyed seeing a realistic portrayal of one.
I wished I had seen more of a build up between Liz and Jason but overall I really liked his. In the end it Skip and Lyla who broke my heart.
