Monster, She Wrote: The Women Who Pioneered Horror and Speculative Fiction
by Melanie R. Anderson, Lisa Kröger
Would you like a book that makes you buy more books? This book broadened my knowledge of gothic/horror writers and expanded my reading list exponentially. I loved hearing authors I was familiar with shoulder to shoulder with more obscure authors.
Some of the writing was a bit cheesy at times, reading a bit like a comic book or ending sections on silly tag lines, but I felt that the depth of material outweighed some of the more affable writing style. This is a fantastic research book to keep on your shelf when you are seeking the origins of the macabre.
