Seriously, though, I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I had guessed the twist KIND OF but I never would've guessed that was the ending... There were bits and pieces of this I didn't fully care for, but the story is extremely atmospheric and Feeney does a great job at painting the narrative that this family is just sick, twisted, and nasty.
While Feeney's writing is not as good as Gillian Flynn's, I did get very similar vibes between this novel and Dark Places by the latter. I think the mystery and the twists will leave you with a similar reaction if you enjoyed Dark Places. What it boils down to is this: I'll be thinking about this read for a while.
