Curly Girl: The Handbook by Lorraine Massey
5.0
Hair care. Hair styling. Hair type.
Author and hairdresser to curly haired women explains in her guide about the different types of curls, hair care and hair styling.
The book is broken down into chapters, which in addition to the core text, include "curl confessions," photos and facts and tips.
The author is the founder and co-owner of a salon especially for women with curly hair. Having curly hair herself, her personal and professional experience make this book worth checking out.
I borrowed this book from the library looking for new information, and while reading realized I'd read it 15 years before! Back then I followed the curly girl method of no-poo and drying and styling. I remember it working really well! The only reason I can think of why I stopped is that I moved. Well, no time like the present to return to what works and I look forward to starting again. This edition came with a DVD which is helpful in showing her explanations. My only wish would be that a new edition come out, perhaps with guides to products found worldwide.
