Son by Lois Lowry

3.0

It took me awhile to really get into this book. I enjoyed reading about Claire’s forest community from a different point of view, but once she got to the first village, I thought the story kind of stalled.

But once Claire started the climb, the story picked up again and I was sucked back in again. I loved reading more about Gabe and his search for his past, and I enjoyed seeing what became of Jonas.

For as much as they talked about the Trademaster being pure evil, I didn’t really feel it. Sure, I didn’t want Claire to make the trade with him, but I didn’t feel as afraid of him as I think I should have. And the ultimate confrontation wrapped up fairly quickly, which seemed a little to easy for how evil he was supposed to be.

In all, though, I enjoyed reading this series and seeing more of the world Lowry created.
