While I did enjoy this book, I found that it was definitely not one of Alice Oseman’s strongest novels. The lack of character diversity in this compared to their other works is quite noticeable. Also, I feel like the side character’s are not fleshed out as much as I need them to be to make parts of this story believable. For instance, the ending. I feel as though the reasoning for what the character’s were doing was there, but I don’t feel strongly about it in any way because neither of those characters had been fully developed. While Alice Oseman has a knack for storytelling and creating a diverse and wonderful cast of characters that are easy to fall in love with, I feel as though this one missed the mark a little and I wasn’t as impressed; however, for a debut novel, I quite enjoyed it and can’t wait to continue reading her works! I do love the deeper dive into Tori in this book and her perspective of Charlie’s situation because I feel as though it added a lot to the fourth Heartstopper novel.
