Beyond the Black Door by A.M. Strickland

This was a gorgeous book. Although a little slow at times, this had brilliant world building, an ace MC (yay!), and possibly the most compelling villain- if it's even right to call him that- I've ever read. The book does an incredible job explaining the a-spec, and genderqueer/trans/body dysphoria, all still within the fictional world. Kamai and Vehyn drove the story, so for that: thank you.
