Not Just Gal Pals by Elizabeth Luly

3.0

A hallmark-style rom-com with very low stakes. I liked the slow burn at the beginning when they were so awkward around each other, but as soon as they got together all the awkwardness just went away? Especially Blake, who was completely silent and standoffish, seemed to have a personality transplant and started calling Jenny “babe”. Major U-Haul, but in case you missed it they mentioned that phrase about 10 times in the book.

The small town vibes were lovely, it felt like an un-funny Schitt’s Creek, where everyone is super nice to each other in a way that makes your teeth hurt. People don’t talk like that. Even after sex, they spoke so formally! I think the dialogue was a major issue for me.

Though I DID like Blake accidentally reenacting the lake scene from Pride and Prejudice.

If you want something to decompress with, this is perfect.
