The Gender Book: Girls, Boys, Non-Binary, and Beyond by Cassandra Jules Corrigan

informative fast-paced

5.0

Yet another fantastic title from Cassandra Jules Corrigan and Jessica Kingsley Publishers. Thank you so much for an eARC of The Gender Book, I really enjoyed it. A big thank you to NetGalley UK as well.

While this is a picture book, I would say it would be more suitable for children 8+ - simply because of the amount of information in the book and attention spans. It can definitely be read with younger children as it's laid out in a very easy to understand manner, with several examples and a glossary at the end. I learned a lot from this book and it has helped me to broaden my understanding of my own gender.

The drawings by Jem Milton are colourful and eye catching and so wonderfully diverse! We have images of people of different races, body shapes and sizes, disabilities and, of course, different gender presentations. It fits very well with the text and explanations.

I'm definitely considering getting a copy of this book when it comes out so I can have a hard copy in my personal library.
