Definitely the best out of the Twelve Kingdoms series. Urusla is a great FMC and her POV as the eldest and heir to the throne is kind of heartbreaking considering her reputation and efforts to protect her sisters. It was interesting reading her story since she’s clearly very strong willed and taught to be a leader but has a massively emotionally abusive relationship with her father and seeing how a “strong” FMC is also susceptible to DV was handled quite gracefully. The love interest is very much a golden retriever but i appreciate his emotional connectivity and commitment to Urusla from the onset. The plot is eh? There’s a side tangent about evil witchery stuff happening and tbh the “antagonist” did not pan out as a legitimate threat. It’s clear this book is more so a family drama and that’s when it’s strongest.
