One of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus

3.0

Hmm, I listened to this as an “audio book”. Which means that I listened to the entirety of this book RETOLD by no other than Stephanie Soo.

Okay, to begin, this might be all Stephanie Soo’s doing but the book was beautiful. I mean, it’s a 3 from me because of how cliché it was (tropes and dynamics) but overall an extremely good mystery. I wanna say I was cool and totally knew that Simon had suicided and plotted this whole grand scheme against all 4 of them, but woah, I DIDN’T?!!!!

It’s sort of disappointing (jk) that I didn’t assume that (but I did assume Jake was somewhat involved tho) because of just how many mystery books I read, but tbh, even if I had assumed that it was a suicide I would’ve never thought of like just how it would unfold. I MEAN THAT MANIFESTO? WHAT?!?! Idk but something about having such an elaborate and big-brain scheme to rope others in before going too is so much cooler than just killing everyone and then yourself.

Overall, the book is a 3.5 ⭐️ for me, it was a good book to listen to and honestly enjoyed how it had all unfolded. I wished I could’ve gotten to read more of the manifesto though, a well-deserve hyped up book!

Ps: nate’s such a badass for having such a cool comeback to Vanessa LOL like genuinely laughed out loud (for reference, Vanessa wrote WHORE all over addie’s locker and then BAM Nate went “I didn’t even know your name when you tried to shove yo hands down my pants (that’s sexual assault btw) and that was AWESOMEEE). Also Nate and Brownyn ARE SO CUTE HEHE.
