I bought this back in October as a monthly deal, which was my wedding month. (I didn’t think like that, but that’s the mentality of the book IYKYK) It probably would have stayed on my TBR for a little
while longer, but it was the Tired Mammy’s Book Club pick for May, so I gladly went with it. (Although I didn’t finish it in time, only getting to 90%)
This book although it tackles a serious issue of suicide ideation, it explores the full circle transformation and mentality of a character suffering through this trying time. Two worlds collide in the Cornwall, Newport when due to mismanagement by an inexperienced staff member, Phoebe has somehow booked her last supper of cat pain killers on the same week as the wedding people.
When I saw the bride say you can’t kill yourself on the week of my wedding, I knew this book was going to be insane!
It’s a typical wedding will they won’t they book, full of wit, cold feet, coconut pillows, hot tub time machines, panda fornicating and an incident with a car that seems anatomically impossible.
I loved the plot holes of an American group wasting all their annual leave on a 6 day wedding and how the receptionist switched once check out came and the next wedding people arrived. Yes it’s predictable in parts and as there wasn’t a huge trigger warning, you can be rest assured this is the perfect summer read.
