On Hashish by Walter Benjamin

2.0

what if Vice got a hold of your literary estate? not really a book, and not really intended for publication by the author, this volume collects all of the things your fave Walter Benjamin had to say on drugs. While it turns out to be more than you might expect, it’s mostly notes that he and his buddies wrote, ultimately concluding in two published articles that take piecemeal from those notes. While this may hold value for a scholar of Benjamin or of the history of drug literature, it doesn’t hold together on its own. Ultimately, his observations were probably more novel in their own time, so unless you’re interesting in a critical theorist pointing his finger into the air and claiming it’s a watch tower for two hours, your energies are best directed elsewhere
