“Being told that it is forbidden does not kill love. It strengthens it.”

this was brilliant. the relationship between julian and emma was just so well-curated. i always love reading that progression from friends, well in this case parabatai, to lovers. although, it was pretty abrupt at places, julian and emma going from the domestic familiarity of friends and parabatai to the forbidden and calm yet thrilling nature of lovers was just great.

the plot, too, existed for the first time ever in a clare work. the entire premise just didn’t depend on the characters itself or their development and bonds. the turns clare took were interesting and had me hooked.
