Drizzt Do'Urden! I dont think it's far fetched to say that this is one of the most famous names in Fantasy in general. Certainly if you have engaged with any sort of Forgotten Realms / Dungeons and Dragons content, be it video games or just the pen and paper itself, you will have come across that name!

To my best memory I think my first encounter with him was when playing Baldurs Gate 1 as a kid, finding the game way to hard and using some god mode cheat to kill him and takes his famous weapons for myself! xD But well that's beside the point here. Let's get to the review of the book:

I thought this was a fine introductory book. I did not enjoy most of the Drow politicking and I think it lead to a mostly uninteresting and very predictable plot. It lead to me sometimes tuning out during listening to the audio book and that is never a good sign. But on the other hand when the plot actually focussed on Drizzt himself, trying to find his way in the world, I found myself being way more engaged.

The worldbuilding as we explore fascinating places like the famed city of Menzoberranzan and the Underdark was very well done especially in showing the pure vile evilness that is Drow society. And I also thoroughly enjoyed Drizzt as a character and I'm excited to get to know more about him.
