This book was like a big, embarrassing, fanfiction of every piece of vampire media that's ever been popular in mainstream culture. It was a spicy novel Frankenstein-ed to death with plot devices from other vampire books and movies. I can't say that I did not enjoy it in, it was certainly spicy and that is definitely one thing that I can say that this author writes well. The rest of it... the characters and plot specifically? Lazy. Everything that happened aside form the spice was conveniently wedged in to justify every fantastical thought the author dreamed up. I understand that it's a fantasy and there is a measure of suspended disbelief required but if an author is going to set a book like this in the real world, they should attempt to make it at least a little bit realistic. The main character was nothing special, typical erotica protagonist archetype. Questionable parentage, daughters of a prominent figure, unidentified powers, ends up being more important than everyone thought, etc. Also everything that went wrong she blamed on herself and that felt gross to me. Overall, it was.... fun and the writing was baseline fine. Nothing special and not life changing.
