Didn’t love it but didn’t *hate* it. This was just plain ol boring. Chapters 5-15 were slower than I expected because not a lot happens. And the drama is a bit ridiculous especially the predictable “twist” in the final act.
I’m mixed on the character development because Sebastian was so difficult to root for and ultimately, I don’t think he actually develops much (or perhaps Samantha didn’t do a lot to show us that). Once he’s with Lily, he’s just a possessive horn dog desperate to get into her pants and it got tiresome. Lily says a line about him needing to go to therapy so I hoped we were heading towards that, but unfortunately Lily just becomes his de facto therapist as his gf.
I will say that I like Samantha’s commitment to prolonging the story in this series after the big declaration of love. It’s very different than the story arcs in the ODS series. Spice was good but unearned.
Also I’m totally aware that this is an unfair complaint, but their ages threw me off. I wish they were 2-3 years older, this series makes me roll my eyes at how easy it is for them to all fall in love by 22 and have life changing sex.
My expectations were high because I loved Nate and Liv’s story in the original series, but this felt redundant and repetitive. Nate was barely in this too which was kinda surprising. And all the protective men in the family shit is getting cringey lol. I hope Baird’s story is more fleshed out and interesting than this.
