This book blew my mind. Leigh Bardugo is a genius when it comes to world building, holy shit. I actually prefer this to her Crows or Shadow and Bone novels because there's a touch of realism to the magic and fantasy, which makes the material more digestible and intriguing. It's the authors that can take our world and twist it, ever so slightly, that create true magical storytelling. Here's hoping there's a sequel.
