The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

challenging slow-paced

I liked this book, but sadly didn't like it as much as I had hoped.  This was a story where the timeline jumps around a lot.  Also, the story is told from multiple perspectives and follows a couple generations of characters. This is the second time I've read a story following multiple family members throughout the years, and I think it's something that is hard for me to read.  I'd rather read a book from one perspective and get their full story, or multiple perspectives at the same time.

One thing I appreciate about this book is how realistic it is.  The characters felt like real people with real flaws.
I had hoped  Stella would attend her mother's funeral. But, knowing the characters, it is more true to Jude and Kennedy's characters that they wouldn't tell her.
