My Favorite Thing Is Monsters
by Emil Ferris
I just reread this since volume 2 is finally out, and I wanted a refresh before reading. I love this book, and it's so beautifully done. Why 3 stars then? I just think I'd be careful about who I recommend it to. It jumps around, and it's about a detective solving a mystery, so the pieces come in weird ways. Also there is sexual assault, forced prostitution, mob activity, cancer, and the frickin' holocaust (among other things) so I need to know the person is aware that there are very dark and heavy subjects involved. But it is so good and the art is stunning and the formatting is just so unique. Just know this isn't happy, but it feels real in a way few stories are.
