This lyrical book is written as a letter from a son to his illiterate mother who can't read it. However, personally, I feel like this letter was meant for the writer himself to fully understand and explore his love, trauma, and bonding.
Ocean Vuong's way of storytelling captures the beauty and pain of the human experience showing the full range of emotions. His writing is so beautiful that it feels like a punch in your gut.
