The October Country by Ray Bradbury
4.0

It mystifies me why I didn't discover Bradbury when I was a teenager, when his brand of science-fiction would have sent chills down my spine and inspired me to write reams of horrifyingly cliche creepy short stories. Well, it's probably for the better, because now I can take my time to savour the truly awful, existentialist angst that grips Bradbury's protagonists, and unwind enough to laugh, even (nervously, of course), at how our small fears can grow to envelop us.
