Kafka on the Shore, a surrealist ode to time and memory, enchants readers with its poetic allure and induces a dreamlike trance that lingers long past the final page. Murakami exquisitely uses the absurd to depict the world as it is, where nothing is as it seems. Reading the novel is like having a lucid dream that is transient, enigmatic, and ambiguous, yet also evocative, ineffable, and profound all at once.
