Choices: To The Hills and Back Again by Audrina Patridge
3.0
2.75
I hate rating memoirs.
I loved The Hills. This show and Laguna Beach hold a special place in my heart, thanks to the binge sessions me and my late friend would have when these shows were on. They just hold a special place in my heart and are a source of comfort in a strange way.
I always liked Audrina the character. I guess I wanted to know more about Audrina the person, separate from what is carefully edited.
Her story is one similar to several close friends and family members struggling in rocky relationships. I could even relate to so many aspects of this. My rating isn't based on Audrina the person, or her message. I admired both.
My issue was in the product itself. This was ghost written and went through an editing process, but it was done so poorly. The story itself was never linear. The voice fluctuated. Many sections were repetitive. It just really suffered in both writing and editing.
