I knew I was avoiding this book for a reason. I knew I would love it and gosh do I wish I could read it all over again without recollection. Beautiful, just beautiful. It feels like I'm back in middle school reading about highschool relationships that leave me giddy for the future. This book transported me back and that just what I needed.

When I say I want a strong female character, I don't always mean a badass girl who takes no one's crap. No, sometimes, I mean Shannon. She's shy, timid, and yet so so loveable. The courage and resilience she holds despite the environment she's been forced in is just what I love. She doesn't bite back, no, she takes it. But her growth and slow rise to confidence (I hope to see more of in book 2) make her strong to me. Who knows what I'd do if I were in similar circumstances to her.

Johnny. Now this is what I mean when I say give me multipov books. He's the definition of pining and I absolutely adore that about him. From the moment he laid eyes on Shannon, she was it. Shannon the girl who couldn't see her own beauty, was painted like a goddess in his.

Something this book especially made me appreciate is that despite the obvious pining and crushes the main characters held for each other, their lives revolved around more than that. They had their own goals, drives, and issues, separate from the romance brewing between them. They weren't just characters, they were alive. Now THIS is a slowburn.
