Poignant insight into the experiences of SA survivors.

Although imperfect, this book inspires so much empathy for the multifaceted consequences of an assault and inspires hope for us progressing as a society in both preventing and responding to SAs. Fortunately, I’m not a SA survivor, but I found so much of this book relatable as a woman and the burdens women face to ward off unwanted sexual attention and respond perfectly to said aggression.

My only criticism is that her POV regarding her assailant and the impact or punitive effect of the court proceedings/media attention was a bit lacking. However, it wasn’t about him and I understand and appreciate her perspective.

Overall, beautiful and moving. This should be required reading for young adults learning to navigate the ambiguities of consent and sexual encounters.
