21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act: Helping Canadians Make Reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples a Reality by Bob Joseph

5.0

Essential reading for all Canadians and should be adapted for teaching in schools across the country. "Genocide" is an expression that the West shies away from, except when it is the "other" side perpetuating it.

While Canadian governments and religious organizations colluded shamelessly to denigrate and wipe out Indigenous peoples, the first steps to recognize the wrong-doings have already been taken. As the author rightly points out, we must now give the original inhabitants of Canada the right of self-governance and self-respect.

A most informative book.
