I think this is my favourite book in the Charm of Magpies world. I liked that the first part of this story is basically a "all cops are bastards" story. I liked both Ben and Jonah, and I really enjoyed the past and present way KJ Charles told their love story. This is both an instant love and a second chance romance, both of which aren't usually my favourite, but it works really well here.

I also really liked the setting of them moving to a tiny town and finding domestic bliss. While I really enjoy the rest of the books in this series with their mystery/crime plots, this book steps away from all that, and I liked the little break away from the more gruesome plots from the previous books.
