The Secret of Chimneys
by Agatha Christie
Another excellent mystery by Christie. I always enjoy stories set in stately countryside homes. This one required some focus - there were numerous characters, some with very complex backstories, and the whole tale is steeped in politics. Nevertheless, the characters, particularly Anthony Cade, were animated and likeable. I was also amused by Lord Caterham, and his ardent desire to be left alone. Overall, whilst it was not the easiest story to follow, The Secret of Chimneys makes for a gripping, fast-paced read.
