Do I want to know what happens in the next book? Yes. Do I care enough to keep reading the series? Undecided.

This book was a long ride on the struggle bus for me. At 40%, I was quite annoyed with all of the heroine's questions but more so by the fact no one would answer any of her questions. I likely would have stopped there if it weren't for the fact both of my book clubs were reading this story.

By 52% I had decided this book was entirely too long and began texting other friends to find out if it was, in fact, a romance because the payoff wasn't there and I was feeling bamboozled. Around this same time, I decided romantasy may not be the genre for me.

I enjoyed the chunk of story from approximately the 70% mark to 90%. Ultimately, there's some fun world building, a few concurrent mysteries, some twists readers will be able to guess and some others they may not see coming.

This is not a story I would re-read, but will I continue the series? I guess time will tell.
